USAccess SIP Connections: Reminder, Response Requested from Agency Leads ASAP

Emails were sent to Agency Leads and SIP contacts on August 2 and 9 regarding the discontinued support for the TLS 1.0 protocol. For customers who use our System Infrastructure Provider (SIP) interface, there is potential that there will be a service disruption if your agency systems are still using TLS 1.0 to establish secure connections on this interface. Agency Leads, please provide your response as soon as possible with the requested information about the system your agency operates to communicate with the SIP interface.

New MCU/FCU Scanner Suggestion Posted on TRACKS

Some agencies have reported that the photos or documents scanned using Web Enrollment (version used on MCUs and FCUs) are sometimes unclear. Registrars are trained to view documents and photos after scanning them and to rescan them if not clear, and we encourage you to continue to do so.

However, if Registrars are still having issues with grainy images on an MCU/FCU, they can reset the dots per inch (DPI) setting on the document scanner to 300 DPI. An advisory has been posted to TRACKS last week that lists out steps to reset the DPI default.

California State Bar Fingerprint Requirement

Under the new California Rule of Court, Rule 9.9.5 all members of the State Bar are required to be re-fingerprinted. USAccess program has been asked by numerous customer agencies if the fingerprints resident in the system can be used to satisfy this requirement. After reviewing documentation regarding Rule 9.9.5 and consultations with Office of Personnel Management, it has been determined that fingerprints in USAccess are not acceptable to satisfy this requirement.

A Note on Shared vs. Dedicated Centers

Recently, many agencies have seen cardholders make appointments at dedicated centers that do not serve their agency. Please ensure that cardholders know they may make an appointment at a dedicated center for their respective agency or a shared center.

Please also be mindful that shared centers carry the burden of serving many agencies and may have appointment slots fill up more quickly. If distance isn’t a significant factor and an agency-dedicated center is available, please give preference to the dedicated center.
