Encouraging agencies to reduce waste by leveraging their "own buying power," the Administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, Dan Gordon, issued guidance designed to reduce duplication in acquisitions by increasing interagency contracting and information sharing. This came out as a memorandum to Chief Acquisition Officer and Senior Procurement Executives on September 29, 2011. The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) has denied all protests filed against the award of U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) FSSI Office Supply Third Generation (OS3) solution. The GAO decisions lift the stay of performance on OS3 and GSA can now offer OS3 to federal agencies as a cost-saving and efficient solution for purchasing office supplies.

On Thursday, June 19, 2014, the GSA JanSan Team published the Q&As from the Requisition Channel Industry Day as well as Q&As received in response to the Draft Requisition Channel RFQ that was published in February 2014. Numerous comments were received regarding the formulation of the various categories within the market basket. To address those comments, the GSA JanSan Team has regrouped the categories, four of them to match the Purchasing Channel categories and a fifth to include personal hygiene.
