REMINDER - GSA Reverse Auctions Virtual Training - TODAY (Wed, Nov 15, 2017)

REMINDER! Today, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 GSA will be hosting two (2) virtual training sessions for GSA Reverse Auctions.

GSA Reverse Auctions is a GSA e-Tool used to facilitate the request for, and submission of, quotes using a reverse auction process. This government-owned and managed reverse auction platform has been designed to maximize competition through transparency and real-time pricing with increased savings to the Government and taxpayers. This efficient and cost effective reverse auctions e-Tool can be used to solicit quotes/bids for both commodities and services through GSA and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Multiple Award Schedules (MAS) contracts, Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs) issued by GSA and other federal agencies against Schedule contracts, Agency-specific Multiple Award Contracts (MAC), and Open Market acquisitions.

GSA’s website is full of information about the contract award process, but interviews with vendors tell us many find the Federal Acquisition Service’s (FAS) pages jargon-heavy and hard to navigate, with information not appearing where it would be most useful. Many also say they find the process of getting on the Multiple Award Schedules (MAS) very confusing. This is an obvious barrier for new companies trying to do business with the government, and seems to be hitting small and innovative ones especially hard.

Recent Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Rule Finalizes Enhanced Competition Procedures for Federal Supply Schedules (FSS)

An interim rule was published in the Federal Register on March 16, 2011 increasing competition requirement for Multiple Award Contracts, and implemented Section 863 of the Fiscal Year 2009 Duncan Hunter National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
