First I would like to thank everyone for commenting and sharing their thoughts on the site. It is my opinion that it would be wisest to caution against any absolute yes or no answers. The acquisition rules and regulations can often be complex and require the assistance of an acquisition professional and/or an attorney to ensure that the government is following all applicable laws and provisions. I would go to http://www.gsa.gov/portal/content/200369#options on the gsa.gov website for questions and answers related to ordering guidance. I would also like to take this opportunity to remind the community that while this is a site that welcomes all opinions and thoughts (so long as they conform to our commenting guidelines for appropriateness) that the reader should not rely upon the information as an absolute statement of fact nor an official position of the agency. For these formal policy and legal statements we would invite you to contact our public affairs office at (202) 501-1231 so that they may place you in contact with the appropriate division of the agency best suited to answer your question(s).

Answer to your question is likely contract specific. I suggest you confer directly with the contracting officer for the Basic Contract you are working under.

Thank you for a quick response. However, the task order does not have the FAR clause 52.217-8 but the GSA Contract does. Can I still extend for another year, plus add an option (1 year proiced option)?

Yes, if the task order contains the FAR clause 52.217-8, Option to Extend Services (NOV 1999), then you may extend the period of performance by up to 6 months.
