Wrap - Up of FBO.gov Retirement Webinar for Contracting Officers

Earlier today, GSA’s Integrated Award Environment hosted a webinar for government contracting officers who are interested in the transition of FBO.gov.

A recording of today’s event is available here.  The presentation deck is attached to this post.  And written answers to questions collected during the event will be posted soon to this spot - so be sure to check back often.

FBO.gov is retiring this weekend (beginning on November 8) and its key functionalities will transition into beta.SAM.gov by Tuesday, November 12. All the things users used to do in FBO.gov will now be done in beta.SAM.gov under ‘Contract Opportunities.’

In preparation, IAE hosted a webinar for contracting officers that covered:

  • A modernization overview of all the IAE systems that have transitioned into beta.SAM.gov thus far (CFDA.gov, WDOL.gov, and now FBO.gov);

  • Specific information about the FBO transition, including timing, new features, and what users need to do to prepare; and

  • A demonstration of how to add a new notice in beta.SAM.gov.

GSA’s Integrated Award Environment (IAE) recently managed 10 separate award systems that each played a role in the award life cycle. GSA is in the process of retiring those systems and transitioning them to beta.SAM.gov. So far, the three legacy systems that have transitioned are WDOL.gov, CFDA.gov, and now FBO.gov. SAM.gov is the next legacy system scheduled to transition. Once it does, “beta” will drop from beta.SAM.gov, and the beta site will become the new SAM.gov where all remaining legacy systems will be consolidated.

Users who go to FBO.gov on Tuesday morning will be redirected to beta.SAM.gov.
