Certification options now available for NSF International’s new sustainability standard for professional services

NSF International has published an American National Standard for sustainability in the professional services industry, NSF/ANSI 391.1: General Sustainability Assessment Criteria for Professional Services. The new standard establishes criteria for evaluating the environmental, social, and economic impacts of professional services suppliers including organizations classified as professional services suppliers by the U.S. Federal Professional Services Schedule (PSS) or NAICS code 54.

Third-party certification to the standard is now available through certification bodies such as NSF and UL (there may be others). The certification bodies will actively be seeking feedback from service providers throughout the certification process, since this is the first iteration of the standard and it will soon begin the continuous maintenance process.

NSF will be hosting a launch event for the standard and new assurance program on October 11, 2019 in collaboration with the Professional Services Council in Arlington, VA. Please contact Kianda Franklin (kfranklin@nsf.org) if you’re interested in certification, registering for the event, or additional information on the standard and assurance program. If you’re interested in learning more about UL’s certification process, please visit this website or contact Josh Jacobs (josh.jacobs@ul.com).
