EPA WaterSense Product Designation Process Enhancement for GSAAdvantage!

Attention industry partners selling water-efficient products! GSA is enhancing the process it uses to identify EPA WaterSense-certified products on GSAAdvantage!

WaterSense products help federal agencies achieve the water consumption goals and sustainable purchasing requirements of Executive Order 13834 and FAR Part 23. Under the previous process, contractors had to manually select the WaterSense icon in the Schedule Input Program (SIP) and GSA contracting officers had to review and approve the designation(s).

On October 3, 2019, FAS implemented a new process to assign the WaterSense icon to products on GSAAdvantage!. Under the new process, GSA will leverage EPA’s WaterSense product registry to directly assign the icon to compliant products on GSAAdvantage!. The new streamlined process will help vendors comply with the environmental attribute identification requirements in clause 552.238-78.

FSS contractors can help the WaterSense designation process while improving the overall integrity of their Schedule offerings by:

  • listing the product’s model number in the product description
  • submitting Universal Product Codes (UPC) and Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) for each awarded contract item, where available

After October 3, if you have a WaterSense-certified product posted on GSAAdvantage! that does not have the icon and you wish to add it, please contact the Vendor Support Center Helpdesk (877-495-4849 or vendor.support@gsa.gov). The Helpdesk will ask for product data so FAS can confirm the product is WaterSense certified.

This enhancement is part of the Federal Marketplace (FMP) Strategy, GSA’s plan to modernize and simplify the government buying and selling experience for customers, suppliers, and acquisition professionals. GSA has made progress on several other policy, process, and technology improvement projects. Learn more about what GSA is doing to enhance everyone’s experience with the federal marketplace by exploring the FMP Strategy Fall 2019 release.

Thank you for your continued partnership.
