Discovery Tool Updated with Additional Filters, Contract Comparison View and More

Discovery, a GSA market research tool, has been updated to include a new, easier to use front end, additional filters to expand search capabilities, and a new contract comparison view that allows the contracting community to evaluate the best solution for their requirements.

Contracting Officers can use the vendor history search in Discovery to find past contract awards for specific NAICS associated with various IDIQs including OASIS, Professional Services Schedule, Human Capital and Training Solutions (HCaTS), and Building and Maintenance Operations (BMO) contracts. More GSA government-wide services contracts will be added soon!

What’s New

With that latest update, users can search by NAICS, PSC, contract, zone (BMO location specific), service category (Pool, SIN grouping, or category of work by contract) or keyword.

Use the advanced search feature to compare contracts, viewing details such as categories of work, NAICS, number of vendors available, and other contract details in order to determine whether an existing contract can meet your needs. In addition, you can still view lists of available vendors that will adjust based on your filters.

Coming soon, users will also have the ability to filter by:

  • Place of Performance
  • Vendor Contract Value History (Dollar value of awarded contract)
  • Agency Performance History (Look for vendors that have performed work at your agency or similar ones)
  • Spend Under Management Tier (If you need a Best-in-Class contract, we’ll help you find one)

How Discovery Works

Discovery allows federal users to:

  • Research contracts and their vendors simultaneously in order to determine whether a government-wide vehicle can meet their needs
  • Generate a listing of awarded contractors based on a primary North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code and filter for fair opportunity from a list of socio-economic classifications
  • Find contractor administrative information such as points of contact, as well as, lists of current and completed contract actions from the Federal Procurement Data System (FPDS); and
  • Download contractor details as a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file for offline use and analysis.

With Discovery, users can research contracts by first selecting a NAICS, PSC, or Key-phrase that matches the requirement. This will display all of the contracts that are available based on that initial search. Users can then further drill down their requirements based on a variety of filters. From there, they’re able to view full vendor lists and select vendors to dive deeper into each one.

On the vendor details pages, users can select a primary NAICS code, contract, or place of performance to view the vendor contract history, as well as up to date SAM registration data. Discovery also loads data from the FPDS to automatically provide you with a context-rich contract history for each contractor, including the amount of the contract, the primary NAICS code and the pricing type.

Discovery streamlines the process for developing scenarios for set-asides on various contract vehicles to reduce, replace or support Requests for Information (RFI), saving time and cost for the federal government and contractors.
