Discovery Tool Updated to Include PSS Contracts and New Search Capabilities

Discovery, a GSA market research tool, has been updated to include the Professional Services Schedule (PSS) contract, as well as new search capabilities.

The addition of the PSS data means users have visibility into over 4,000 more vendors and their contract history in the Federal Procurement Data System (FPDS). Data from the PSS can be further refined based on the original SINs (Special Item Numbers) providing the user more detailed information.

In addition to the new data, users can now choose how they search including by:

  • NAICS
  • Contract Vehicle
  • Service Category / Pool, or
  • Small Business Set Aside

Users can pick and choose which filters to apply, in any order, so that they can drill down the list of available vendors. These updates will allow contracting officers to see what contracts are available based on the work they need performed. The filters dynamically update based on different selections, so users can also use the filters to reverse search for a North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code under a particular contract or visa versa.

The latest updates also provide greater filtering of a vendor’s contract history on the vendor pages. Now users can see a vendor’s contract history for a specific contract or for a specific NAICS.

GSA is working on additional changes to Discovery. The site will be getting another major facelift before the fiscal year is over which will allow users to search by keywords and compare contracts directly. If you have questions or suggestions about Discovery, email pshc-dev@gsa.gov.
