Industrial Products and Services Highlights

The Industrial Products and Services category team has been hard at work on a number of initiatives.  Highlights of recent accomplishments and upcoming activities include:

Actions Accomplished in Prior 30 Days

●       Posted Air Force MRO FSSI preferred use memorandum on Acquisition Gateway.  The Air Force has recently published a policy that the FSSI MRO BPAs be considered the preferred programs for ordering MRO supplies.  This policy specifies that FSSI MRO BPAs should be used by all Air Force organizations unless proof can be provided that another solution is already in place providing equal or better value.  Also, after conducting analysis using three different types of statistical models, the Air Force Installation Contracting Agency (AFICA) was able to show the FSSI MRO BPAs provide significant savings (roughly 20%) over the existing Air Force Tools & Parts Program (AFTAPP).

30 Day Actions

●       Draft and post additional blogs on Gateway as part of communications plan to encourage purposeful visits to the Gateway

●       Review SUM data to identify additional opportunities for contract consolidation

60 Day Actions

●       Complete DLA BIC designation process for Fire & Emergency Services Equipment (FESE), Special Operations Equipment (SOE), and MRO.  BIC designation will increase Spend under Management (SUM) and engage another organization (DLA) in Category Management.  The category’s v2.0 plan included a conservative estimate of $1.1B in FY17 spend for these contracts.  Further meetings to review the BIC assessments will provide additional information re: spend baselines and potential savings.

90 Day Actions

●       Roll out Government-to-Government (G2G) implementation with target agencies according to implementation plan.  Benefits of G2G requisition-based ordering include reduced acquisition workload, reduced agency risk due to ensured compliance, volume discounts, and improved data capture.

●       Work with target agencies to address contract consolidation opportunities
