From time to time, we receive inquiries about green purchasing training for contractors. Most of the training courses are designed for the federal contracting and program management community. However, as part of the Multiple Award Schedule series of webinars, GSA is offering training for contractors. Please monitor the announcements about the MAS webinars. With GSA including environmental considerations in more contract solicitations every year, we’re sharing new training to help vendors reduce energy costs, protect the environment, and increase their competitiveness in winning GSA contracts. The training focuses on easy steps vendors can take to reduce their energy costs and associated greenhouse gas pollution, which causes global warming. GSA recognizes our obligation to safeguard America’s future by purchasing products and services that minimize our impact on the environment.

GSA recently updated its Green Procurement Compilation (GPC) -- formerly Green Products Compilation -- to include several new features, including a portal devoted to green services. The GPC is a publicly available web site that allows users to identify applicable federal green purchasing requirements for products and services.

For GSA staff and others -- you can now take the Green Purchasing Training course through the On-Line University.  It is essentially the same course posted on the Center for Acquisition Excellence web site.  Posting it on OLU makes it easier for us to track who has taken the training. For the future, my division is considering developing a refresher course, a course on how to green an acquisition, and courses on sustainability and greenhouse gases.  What would be useful to you?
