Computers for Learning (CFL) Training Presented by GSA National Capital Region

GSA National Capital Region Personal Property Center presents Computers for Learning Training on 28 April 2016.
The audience for this event will be educators of public and private schools for
students from K thru 12 as well as representatives from federal and state agencies.

The agenda will include: (a) A presentation on the CFL program and its website; and (b) A tour of the property warehouse. At the conclusion of the tour, we will allow attendees to screen and select available computer equipment for transfer. We will also register first time users on the CFL website.

Previous CFL events welcomed attendees from the District of Columbia metropolitan area as well as from Delaware, and West Virginia. The CFL program's ambitious goal is to make modern computer technology an integral part of every classroom so that every child has the opportunity to be educated to his or her full potential. Transferring computers to schools and educational nonprofits extends the useful life of a computer, helps a needy school, and contributes to a cleaner, greener environment.

· The Computers for Learning (CFL) program - Learn how the Computers for Learning (CFL) program provides a quick and easy way for government agencies and the private sector to donate excess computer equipment to schools and educational nonprofits.

· Executive Order 12999 - Learn how the CFL program evolved as a guide for implementing Executive Order 12999, Educational Technology: Ensuring Opportunity for all Children in the Next Century. The executive order encourages agencies, to the extent permitted by law, to transfer computers and related peripheral equipment excess to their needs directly to schools and some educational nonprofit organizations.

· CFL Website Computers for Learning (CFL) - Learn how your school can register to receive computers. If you are from a school looking to receive computer or technology equipment through CFL, then this is the place for you. There is information for public, private, and home schools, as well as a school search so you can see who else is participating in CFL! www.computersforlearning.gov

· State Agency for Surplus Property (SASP) - Learn how your school can receive other types of personal property. State Agencies for Surplus Property (SASP) have been established by each state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Commonwealth of the Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and American Samoa to distribute personal property that the Federal government no longer needs. The SASPs advise applicants of eligibility requirements and procedures to follow in acquiring surplus federal personal property and of the conditions and restrictions placed on the property.

· Tour of the GSA Personal Property Center (PPC) - The PPC, located just outside Washington, DC, in Springfield, Virginia, primarily serves the greater Washington area, including eastern Maryland and Virginia, but is open to the entire East Coast. In effect, the PPC acts as a repository for deliveries of unneeded property from federal agencies looking for smart disposal solutions. Come take the tour, screen property available for transfer and network with federal agencies!
