Cloud Access for Federal Enterprise (CAFE) Collaborative Workshop

CAFE Collaborative Workshop @ GSA Headquarters, 1800F ST NW, Washington, DC, GSA Conference Center

Monday March 13,  2017, 10:00AM – 1:00PM EST (Check in starts at 9:30AM)

Industry Workshop is open to the public; press is welcome. Pre-registration is required. All registrants will receive a confirmation email.

Attendance is limited. No more than 2 representatives from each organization. The GSA Conference Center is handicapped accessible.

The GSA Cloud Acquisition for Federal Enterprise (CAFE) team will be hosting a collaborative workshop with industry to enlist your help and diverse expertise as we set out to improve the way that government agencies identify, solicit, acquire, secure, and fund cloud computing services in order for agencies to utilize the full capabilities and benefits of cloud computing.

Agencies have made progress since the Cloud First Policy was enacted nearly six years ago, but the government is still working to fully embrace cloud computing. Our research indicates that there is not just one barrier to cloud acquisition for the government; rather, there are multiple obstacles that will require a multi-pronged approach to overcoming.

Some of the challenges the CAFE team is tackling include:

  • How to change the way agencies fund and pay for cloud computing services;

  • How to leverage FAR clauses and potential deviations to better utilize existing contracts;

  • How to ease access to FedRAMP - authorized cloud computing services solutions; and

  • How to help small agencies effectively plan for and acquire cloud computing services.
