    GSA Global Supply is revising its minimum order requirements for the purchase of items which are not under a standing contract. The changes, effective January 1, 2017, are designed to increase consistency and enable GSA to support customers worldwide with special order requirements. For details, see the attachment.

    GSA Global Supply hosted an online training session on Ordering Office Supplies through GSA Global Supply. The webinar was attended by more than 775 customers and featured an overview of the changes associated with the implementation of strategic sourcing for office supplies.

    As prior posts have outlined, GSA Global Supply has incorporated strategic sourcing into its delivery of office supplies to customers worldwide. To highlight that program, GSA Global Supply is hosting a free, one hour webinar on March 30 at 11:00 EDT to describe the concept more fully. The webinar will include screen shots from the GSA Global Supply and GSA Advantage websites to illustrate how the concept appears to shoppers.

    GSA’s National Customer Service Center (NCSC) is a full service contact center and operates as a knowledge broker and strategic asset for GSA.  NCSC is a valuable resource for both customers and vendor partners, and works diligently to resolve any breaks in the supply chain.  The notes below highlight some of the main tasks for the NCSC staff. Since GSA Global Supply customers are located around the world, the NCSC operates 24 hours a day, 5 days a week from Sunday night at 8:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Friday Central Time.

    Every year, GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) coordinates a large survey of customers for 15-18 different programs, including GSA Global Supply. The surveys are mailed to thousands of customers and weekly reminders are sent to encourage recipients to take a few minutes to give us feedback on a particular program. (Contact lists are merged and purged so that nobody receives more than one survey.)

    As noted in prior posts, GSA Global Supply has launched a strategic sourcing contract for office supplies and is moving forward with plans to create similar contract vehicles later this fiscal year for Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) supplies and Janitorial and Sanitation (JanSan) products.

The first session is a general overview of the GSA Global Supply program and how it is incorporating strategic sourcing into its daily operations through the use of requisition channel contracts. The second, in late March, will focus on “office supplies” and how to take advantage of recent changes.

      In July 2015 we witnessed a human tragedy in Chattanooga, Tennessee when a shooting incident that began at a military recruiting office ended at a nearby U.S. Naval Reserve facility. Four U.S. Marines died that day and several other people were wounded before the shooter was killed. In the aftermath, the Navy revisited its policy on weapons and storage at Naval Recruiting offices around the country.

    In early summer, GSA Global Supply will launch two key components of a new Order Management Services platform to consolidate and modernize the processing of customer orders. While GSA Global Supply has for many years offered users a variety of ordering mechanisms (including online, phone, fax or FEDSTRIP/MILSTRIP), these alternatives often flowed through distinct processing channels. Managing these distinct legacy systems was challenging and the streamlined approach is a key element of our comprehensive Supply Transformation effort.
