Update:  We had a WebEx this afternoon which lasted nearly two hours which provided a comprehensive overview of the NITCP and the implementation of the Reverse Auction Tool.  My special thanks to Teresa Carrington, Director of the NITCP and her staff for a very insightful meeting and discussion.  We had close to 40 participants representing Financial Management, CAR, AAS, and AOD.  It was even more special because several PBS associates attended the event.  So, it was truly an enterprise-wide discussion.

The Pacific Rim Region, AAS has just published its new brochure.  It focuses on our realignment of strategic priorities (assessing acquisition risk, managing client expectations, and increasing customer market share in a responsible and sustainable manner) by providing assisted acquisition support through project management and contracting expertise - from requirements development through contract close out - a scalable, turnkey solution for our customers.

Happy Monday - Part of the importance of effective project management within the milieu of Federal contracting consists of proper funds management.  This includes timely (or even streamlining) close out of orders/contracts and return of funds to our clients.  When new leadership came on board, we endeavored to make this a priority.  We had a "wave"/30-challenge back in October 2012, which resulted in almost all old orders being closed out and millions of dollars returned to clients.

Hello and Happy Sunday, I am still on a "cloud of elation" as we successfully completed the first (and certainly not the last) Acquisition Forum and Industry Day held 17-18 June at LAAFB.  For the attendees, I hope that it was insightful, entertaining and informative.  I have to admit, I was a little exhausted, working as emcee, presenter, and helping to lend a hand to my wonderful colleagues in adjusting to last minute changes and various machinations occurring during the "11th hour."

Hello - I hope that everyone is doing well.  First, let me apologize for not blogging sooner.  I was selected as the Deputy Regional Commissioner in December 2014, so my breadth of responsibilities has increased dramatically and exponentially.  In addition to changes affecting me and the front office, there has been another change directly affecting the AAS Portfolio.  In April 2015, Mr. Stephen Durrett, a seasoned contracting officer, has temporarily taken over as Acting AAS Director for Region 9 as a detail.  He has a wide breadth of contracting and project management experience.

Congress and taxpayers have long pressed for better and more transparent information about how Federal Government Information Technology (IT) dollars are spent. Using Industry best practices, the Federal Government has an opportunity to improve strategic management of its IT portfolio by leveraging government-wide publicly available data sources to make data-driven decisions and analyze tradeoffs between cost, quality, and value.
