Thank you to all who joined GSA at our Industry Government Council Meeting during the first afternoon of the GSA Expo!  We had a great discussion, spanning various topics such as how the schedules program will look in the future, small business success, the impact of recent changes to the FAR, as well as FAS goals and accomplishments.

Just go to http://expo.gsa.gov/training/matrix and look around.  Please take special note of the "Business Support" section in the training matrix.  This training is specifically targeted toward the private sector, and GSA Schedule Contractors.

An interim FAR rule has been published in the Federal Register to include Section 863 of the Fiscal Year 2009 Duncan Hunter National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This rule enhances competition requirements for orders placed against multiple-award contracts, including:

Has the maximum order threshold (MOT) been completely replaced by the SAT?  Does the SAT rule apply even if the MOT is less than the SAT?

The Maximum Order Threshold (MOT) has only been replaced by the Simplified Acquisition Threshold (SAT) in the ordering procedures prescribed by FAR 8.405. In other words, if ordering off an FSS Schedule or FSS BPA, the MOT is no longer the threshold that...Read More

Did you know that the Office of Small Business was at the 2011 GSA EXPO in San Diego, CA?  We presented more than 6 classes and hosted a mini event we called the Small Business Symposium which had additional training and matchmaking.  We had a goal to provide a new and improved small business website, organization page and the much anticipated, finally updated, "Doing Business with GSA" publication.  Not to mention new marketing materials to boot!  We got it done and we are proud to share our website and publication updates with you.

Encouraging agencies to reduce waste by leveraging their "own buying power," the Administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, Dan Gordon, issued guidance designed to reduce duplication in acquisitions by increasing interagency contracting and information sharing.  This came out as a memorandum to Chief Acquisition Officer and Senior Procurement Executives on September 29, 2011.  As we discuss in the video series, this represents the type of communication that successful contractors need to stay tuned in to.

Can an interested party protest an agency’s solicitation for schedule contract services/supplies, cancellation of an RFQ, or the award to another contractor on the same GSA Schedule (FAR 33.101)? Yes. In the MAS solicitations, we do have Clause 52.233-2, Service of Protest (SEP 2006), and it will have the address where to obtain written acknowledgement from the Contracting Officer.
