USAccess Release 12.0 Rescheduled for Jan. 26-28

After receiving requests from Customer Agencies for additional testing time, the MSO has moved the implementation of Release 12.0 to the weekend of Jan. 26-28. This release includes an update to the CMS system used to activate and update PIV credentials. An email was sent to Agency Leads on Jan. 4 with additional information.

Key points for this release:

  • The size of the release requires an early start. Please plan for the USAccess service to be unavailable from 3 p.m. Eastern on Friday, Jan. 26 through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28. Agencies need to make arrangements with their credentialing sites to close at 3 p.m. Eastern on Friday, Jan. 26. Please see the Release 12.0 notice posted on the Agency Lead Portal (ALP) for more information on what is included in this release.

  • Card batching must be turned off on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 3 p.m. Eastern. With a CMS upgrade, card batching must be turned off ahead of the maintenance period because of changes in card policies. This means cards cannot be printed (either locally or centrally) starting at 3 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, Jan. 24 through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28. As a result, centrally printed card shipments to the field will be delayed a few days. Card batching will resume once maintenance completes, so we expect printing to resume on Monday morning after the backlog is processed, with shipments to the field to begin shortly thereafter. Please plan your schedules accordingly.

  • All LA and LCS Kits, and Agency machines configured for desktop rekey, need an update to complete card activations, updates and rekeys once Release 12.0 goes into production. As mentioned in previous Blue Top issues, User Group meetings and Agency Lead communications, the CMS upgrade in Release 12.0 requires updated ActiveX controls. New LA, LCS and desktop rekey installers are now posted on the USAccess SFTP server (dated January 2018). Agency systems configured for desktop rekey must update their systems with these new ActiveX controls prior to this release weekend or they won’t be able to complete desktop rekeys. Agencies can update their machines as soon as feasible, as the installers work within the current infrastructure. For more information, please see the final release notice for LA 4.3.1 / LCS 4.2 / Desktop Rekey Installers dated January 10, and the USAccess Software Release 12.0 Notice draft, both of which are posted on the ALP.
