A Story of Success with GSA

The Office of Small Business Utilization (OSBU) recently received this letter from a small business we had helped over the years. We wanted to share it with you, our small business partners, to show that with hard work, smart use of available resources, and reaching out for help, you can increase your chances of success with GSA.

We love GSA!  It is not an overstatement to say that we would not be the small business that we are today without GSA.  As an 8(a) and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) it means even more.  We owe a lot to each of the women and men at GSA who have given of themselves to give us an opportunity to compete.  We never really understood what it meant to be a customer and partner with GSA until we had the chance to experience it firsthand.  In 2010, it was GSA who gave us a chance to be a prime Federal contractor.  Without GSA we would have been stuck in an endless cycle as a subcontractor.  GSA gave us a break when no one else would.  GSA let us fly on our own, but it didn’t stop there.  Because of GSA it just seems to keep getting better and better.

We went on as a company to be awarded two other GSA schedules as prime as we accumulated more past performances.  We got busy and this led to more work off GSA eBuy.  We not only became a GSA prime contractor, but became a prime contractor at GSA in 2014.  Last year we implemented our DCAA compliant accounting system and we are in the process of obtaining our Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 3 certification and Top Secret facility clearance.

In the last three years we have had consecutive revenues of around $2 million a year.  With our business growth we are able to provide healthcare benefits to our employees and make a difference in our community.  Today, as a small business we have so much to be thankful for; excellent CPARS, positive cash flow, the ability to hire and pay benefits to veterans, minorities and women and so much more.  With GSA’s support we have been a net job creator.

(Our company) has made it our goal to invest back a minimum of ten percent of before tax income into scholarships, community activities and healthcare research support.  All of this matters in the lives of real people.  This year alone we are working to get on 8(a) STARS II, VETS 2, ALLIANT 2 and hopefully OASIS in 2017.  It is because of the unnoticed commitment by so many at GSA to – just give us an opportunity.  For that alone we are grateful.

In a world that will “Blog or Tweet” about all that is wrong, let’s remember that there is a lot of good happening – right now!”

In the words of the author of this letter: “Our tomorrow has not been written yet, but I do believe that it is brighter given our partnership with GSA.”

There are many people at GSA who champion small business. These people, not just on the OSBU staff, but around the agency, are willing to help in any way to increase your chances for success.
