Yesterday GSA issued a solicitation to request proposals from e-marketplace portal providers meeting the business-to-business requirements of the Proof of Concept for the Commercial Platforms program. The program seeks to modernize how commercial products are bought via the open market by federal agencies through partnerships with commercial e-marketplace platform providers, while helping our agency partners gain better visibility and insights into their online spend. The solicitation represents an important step forward towards the implementation of the initial proof of concept in early calendar year 2020.
The goal of the proof of concept is to start small with a subset of participating agencies to test, refine, and ultimately grow the program based on the lessons learned. By launching the initial proof of concept in early calendar year 2020, GSA offers a way for agencies to access commercial platforms as part of a whole-of-government approach and improve visibility into their online spend.
The solicitation is available here and will be open for 30 days, with proposals due on November 1, 2019.
