Service Enhancements - March 2018

Changes/updates since last Blue Top

  • February 3-4: Routine maintenance and Entrust maintenance completed as scheduled.

  • Release 12.0 / CMS 4.3 upgrade was completed as scheduled Feb. 17-19.

This release included the need to update LA and LCS kits with new ActiveX controls. Please see the USAccess Software Release 12.0 Notice and the USAccess Release LA 4.3.1-LCS 4.2-Desktop Rekey Installers Notice posted on the Agency Lead Portal (ALP) for more information.

  • New LA v4.4.0 and LCS v4.3.0 Installers were posted on USAccess SFTP server on Feb. 23.

These installers include a newer version of Java and a fix for a known issue using PCA Express on LA and LCS kits. The LCS Installer also includes an updated enrollment certificate for the application that expires on March 21, 2018. The update must be completed for LCS kits to complete enrollments after March 21. As a result, the LCS v4.3.0 Installer is mandatory; the LA Installer is strongly recommended to get the PCA Express fix and newer Java version. Please see the release notice posted on the ALP for more information.

Planned system events

  • May 5-6: Routine monthly maintenance

Please plan for the USAccess service to be unavailable from 5:30 a.m. Eastern on Saturday through 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Sunday during routine monthly maintenance.

Please be aware that planned maintenance periods can sometimes result in unanticipated delays in service. Please assure that systems are operable prior to your first appointment following a maintenance weekend. We will notify you of unanticipated delays.

Status of Known Issues Related to Releases

  • PCA Express not working on LA v4.3.1 and LCS v4.2 – FIXED WITH LA v4.4.0 AND LCS v4.3.0

Because of a configuration conflict between PCA Express and CMS v4.3, PCA Express does not work with CMS 4.3 and LA v4.3.1 and LCS v4.2.

A fix is included in the new LA v4.4.0 and LCS v4.3.0 Installers that were posted on the USAccess SFTP server on February 23 as part of the datacenter migration work. Once LA and LCS kits are updated to this new version, this issue is fixed.

  • LA Only (all versions) – REMAINS OPEN

There is a known issue when using the Activation icon to digitally sign the Acknowledgement Page at the end of activations and card updates. Because of a conflict with Java and ActivClient v7.1 (version used with LA v4.3.1 and LA v4.4.0), the Acknowledgement Page cannot be digitally signed. When attempting to do so using the Activation icon in either Unattended or Attended mode, an error will occur.

The card activation or update is complete and the card can still be used and is active. Please have the applicant read the Acknowledgement Page before taking the card with them.

  • LCS (all versions) and Fixed Activation stations – REMAINS OPEN

Activators using LCS systems (either v4.2 or latest v4.3.0) and our current fixed activation stations should take extra care when logging in to the Activation portal. When prompted to select a card certificate to authenticate to the portal, Activators should select the PIV Authentication certificate, NOT the Digital Certificate. If the Digital Certificate is selected, the Activator will be logged in, but will be prompted to enter his or her PIN after clicking on any tab or conducting any action within the portal. If an Activator starts to see multiple PIN prompts, he or she should log off and select the PIV Authentication certificate.
