New Green Icons Available in GSAAdvantage!

GSA recently added two new ‘green’ icons to GSAAdvantage! that Schedule contractors can use to identify product environmental attributes. First, a ‘Safer Choice’ icon is available for cleaning (and other) products that meet the EPA Safer Choice standard, demonstrating that the product is safe for human health and the environment. Second, an ‘EPA Recommended’ icon is available for products that conform and/or are certified to one of the specifications, standards and ecolabels recommended by EPA. This icon includes specifications, standards and ecolabels for EPA-specified cafeteria, construction, custodial, electronics, grounds/landscaping and office/furniture products. These two icons greatly expand green options for Schedule contract holders.

Three icons were removed from the Schedules Input Program (SIP) because they are primarily relevant to GSA’s Global Supply program and had low usage rates by Schedule contractors: EPA Primary Metals Free, NESHAP and PRIME. These icons are being retained on GSAAdvantage! to identify green Global Supply items.

Schedule contractors that qualify for a Safer Choice or EPA Recommended icon are encouraged to update their product information in SIP, EDI, and all other relevant mediums in accordance with clause 552.238-72 Identification of Products That Have Environmental Attributes. Note that the new icons have not yet been added to the Formatted Procurement Tool (FPT); icons for products awarded to Schedules 58I and 72 can be added once FPT is updated.
