Spotlight Webinar: Contract Close Out

Who: Open to the Federal Acquisition Workforce

Speaker: Scott Eberlee, General Services Administration

Timely contract closeout process has been identified as a government-wide issue. A 2017 GAO report (Federal Contracting, Additional Management Attention and Action Needed to Close Contracts and Reduce Audit Backlog), identified opportunities for agencies to resolve contract close challenges.

Closing contracts in a timely manner can help to limit the government’s exposure to risks by identifying and recovering improper payments to contractors and avoiding paying interest fees when the government does not pay contractors on time. Timely closeout also ensures that the government deobligates and uses unspent funds from completed contracts before the funds expire. Join this session to learn about the resources available to the contracting community to ensure proper and timely contract close out.

“Spotlight” webinars are designed to share sound acquisition practices, from requirements development and market research to service delivery and contract closeout, and improve acquisition through inter-agency collaboration. These webinars and shared resources support the governmentwide category management initiatives to make smarter and more efficient buying decisions. All webinars are open to the federal acquisition workforce and most offer Certified Learning Points. In addition, webinars are recorded and posted on the Acquisition Gateway.
