JanSan Purchasing Channel Now Open for Orders!

GSA recently established 18 blanket purchase agreements for a new strategic sourcing solution designed to help federal agencies purchase Janitorial and Sanitation (JanSan) supplies at discounted prices that are 15.9 percent lower than standard government pricing.
 

Starting today, GSA customers can order direct from the JanSan contract vehicle, utilizing the 18 BPAs available. As of October 23,  pricing is available directly through GSA contractors only.  See www.gsa.gov/fssijansan for a full listing of the contractors, and their contact details.  (The BPA holder’s ordering website information is listed directly in the Quick Guide, available at www.gsa.gov/fssijansan.) JanSan pricing will be available through GSA Advantage! and DoD EMALL within the next few weeks.
 

In order to streamline the product catalog and ensure lower prices, GSA has grouped JanSan products into four categories: Cleaning Compounds and Related Dispensers, Non-Motorized Cleaning Equipment and Trash Receptacles, Paper Products and Related Dispensers, and Motorized Floor Cleaning Equipment and Accessories.  The first three categories require AbilityOne items; however, all vendors within these groupings are AbilityOne-authorized distributors. Small Business is also a critical partner, supporting 15 of the 18 awards.

To encourage the success and wide us of the JanSan FSSI program I believe it is necessary to get individual agencies committed to using and promoting it. This would require agency wide memorandums either suggesting or mandating it's use. In turn this would allow those vendors who have access to this program a policy to use as a tool to solicit and educate those buyers who are unfamilar with the advantages this BPA offers. How does GSA plan on going about requesting these letters or memorandums?

The JanSan Purchasing Channel solution just went live on October 23, 2014.  In a JanSan Commodity Team meeting on October 15, 2014, the JanSan team presented materials to customer agencies to assist them with implementation of the solution within their respective agencies.  A request for updated commitments, now that the solution is live, will be made in the next Commodity Team meeting after the beginning of the new calendar year.
