Helpful Hints for the new Opportunities Function in beta.SAM.gov: How to Save Searches

Last week, FBO.gov (Federal Business Opportunities) was retired and its key functionalities were transitioned into beta.SAM.gov. All the things users used to do in FBO.gov can now be done in beta.SAM.gov under “Contract Opportunities.”

As users begin to get acquainted with new and improved functionalities in beta.SAM.gov, we’ve started to hear some common themes from the feedback regarding the new Contract Opportunities environment. During the next few days, we will use this space to share helpful hints and guidance about some of those themes.

To begin with, we’ve received some feedback from users wanting to know how to save searches in contract opportunities in beta.SAM.gov.

There is much information about how to save searches in the Learning Center on beta.SAM.gov, including a how-to video and FAQs.  There also are FAQs about how to save searches at FSD.gov.

How to save searches or download contract opportunities in beta.SAM.gov:

Saved Search capabilities are available to all users who log in - no roles are required. Use your Login.gov credentials to log in to beta.SAM.gov.

Once logged in, conduct a search of contract opportunities using your desired criteria. Once you complete your search, you have two options: Saved Search and Download.  Saved Search saves the search parameters to your profile so that you can run the search again any time you like. You will be prompted to name your search. Download will prompt you to download all the results in either CSV or PDF formatted files.  Once downloaded you can save on your drive.

You can access your saved searches in multiple locations. The menu in the upper left corner, near Search Results has links to where saved searches may be run or managed. Saved searches may also be accessed from your user profile. We will be implementing the search notification emails shortly.  Users will be able to opt in to receive a daily email notification for new results in a saved search.

Remember, if you need further assistance using beta.SAM.gov, the Federal Service Desk is here to help Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET at FSD.gov. Access the beta.SAM.gov Learning Center any time for step-by-step videos and instructions.

Stay tuned to Interact for more helpful hints, coming soon!

Of all the systems being consolidated here, one of the most important to me as a Gov't contractor was FBO. As an example, I had an FBO search agent that covered fourteen (14) Army Contracting Command - Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG) contracting office locations such as W56KGU, W909MY, W52P1J, etc. - all in ONE search. The search was simple to create and save in FBO: I just selected the desired contracting office locations from a dropdown list. As best I can tell, the 'filter' in beta.SAM.gov goes 2 levels deep; in my case, Department of Defense, then Department of the Army. NOT EVEN CLOSE to what I had grown dependent on in my position. Twice I submitted this issue at the "Provide Feedback" link and I received no response. Do you have a User Manual or video that shows how I can customize a relatively simple search as above in beta.SAM.gov to mimic what I had before in FBO? Thank you.

Thank you for the input. Please know all feedback submitted through the "Feedback tool" on beta.SAM.gov and/or through the Federal Service Desk is being received and reviewed; no comment or suggestion is missed. Please reach out to the Federal Service Desk at FSD.gov for any technical questions about how to use the system (this space here on Interact is not set up to respond to technical questions). Also please see our latest fact sheet about beta.SAM.gov on GSA.gov/IAE in the upper right-hand corner under "News and Updates."

This isn't accurate. An earlier comment(s) haven't been posted either. Today beta.sam.gov is down (it's 24 Nov) so what was already poor is now not working. Access to Federal opportunities via beta.sam.gov are nonexistent. Please stop touting this as a success, it isn't.

With FBO I would receive an email every morning with the latest list of opportunities based on my NAICS codes. How do I get beta.sam to do that? I created and saved a search based on the codes and dates since the first of November. But I don't know how to set up the automatic feed of new or changed opportunities.
