Hazardous Materials Labeling Requirements

Vendors shipping hazardous materials are reminded that you are required to label all hazardous materials with an OSHA warning label consistent with Section 1910.1200 of Title 29, CFR and the United Nations “Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS).” This requirement was effective December 1, 2015, and GSA has received reports of noncompliance from our customers. The label must contain the following information:

(1)  Product Identifier

(2)  Signal Word

(3)  Hazard Statements

(4)  Pictograms

(5)  Precautionary Statements

(6)  Chemical Manufacturer, Importer, or Other Responsible Party Information.
