Happy New Year: Register Now for these Professional Services Related January 2018 Webinars

Start your new year off right! GSA's Office of Professional Services and Human Capital Categories and the governmentwide Professional Services Category are hosting a series of webinars for the federal acquisition workforce and industry this month.

Office Hours for Federal Acquisition Community:  NAICS Codes and Set Asides

Ask our expert, Brad deMers, Senior Contracting Officer, all about North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes as they apply to GSA’s Professional Services Schedule. NAICS codes are the standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy. Schedule solicitations list multiple NAICS codes under a single Special Item Number (SIN) when multiple industries describe the scope of work to be performed under that SIN. Learn how the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Small Business Administration regulations impact how SINS are assigned and can be awarded under a specific Schedule contract.

GSA's Professional Services Category monthly Office Hours are designed to address federal customer agency questions about professional services acquisition. Plus you’ll earn 1 CLP!

Professional Services Category Spotlight: How to Use the Contract Awarded Labor Hours (CALC) Tool

Kelly Bailey, the product owner of the CALC digital tool, will explain how to use CALC toconduct market research and price analysis on over 45,000 professional and IT labor categories from more than 4,000 recent GSA contracts. By using the tool, contracting officers learn about the full range of prices (highest to lowest) and average pricing for a specific labor category, facts that lead to smarter negotiations. Filters can also be used to find associated data such as years of experience, education level, and other information resulting in faster and better buying decisions. Bailey will identify the source of the data, explain the type of data presented, and demonstrate a variety of ways of pulling data for various contracting uses. He will show how contractors use the data and what that means to Contracting Officers and Contracting Specialists. To maximize the training experience, register on the Acquisition Gateway and use the CALC tool to follow the demonstration. Questions are encouraged. Attendees can earn Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) for attendance.
