GSA Reverse Industry Day (FAS) Session 1: Barriers to Entry / Doing Business in the Federal Marketplace

This session will engage in an open discussion around how four different federal contractors approach doing business with GSA. The moderator will ask each participant a Stimulus question which is intended to elicit a Response that details industry’s thinking, likely reaction, or past experience to a certain situation or a frequently occurring action by GSA. The objective is to help GSA understand the multiple challenges that new and current companies face internally and externally and the considerations, risks, and investments that businesses of various sizes and markets must make to get on a Schedule and stay in business with GSA and its customers. Participants will discuss challenges with the application process, past performance requirements, and how the type of vehicle, set asides, and NAICS v. SINS impacts industry decision-making. Speakers will emphasize how communication or lack of communication from GSA affects industry’s ability to pursue work and stay in business. The audience will gain a better sense of industry communication needs and suggested ways to improve the process through the lens of GSA customer service, the customer-agency relationship, and creating a smarter workforce. Representation will include companies of various sizes and different markets (services, products, R&D) (Format: Stimulus / Response Discussion)
