Feedback Requested - Use of Tokenization for GSA Advantage Orders

GSA’s Multiple Awards Schedule Project Management Office (MAS PMO) is exploring the possibility of implementing tokenization as a better way of protecting GSAAdvantage! customer payment data. Tokenization replaces payment information (such as credit card numbers) with random alphanumeric tokens which are meaningless in the event of a security breach. The vendor uses the token to process transactions while sensitive payment information is stored securely in a card-data vault. Tokenization also eases the contractor burden of handling and protecting sensitive payment information.

The MAS PMO has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to gauge our industry partner’s interest in implementing tokenization for GSAAdvantage! transactions and would like your input. The RFI is intended for all Advantage vendors or potential vendors. Its purpose is to inform MAS PMO’s decision on whether to pursue the implementation of tokenization for Advantage MAS transactions.

The RFI closes on March 10, 2021.
