Changes Coming to the Federal Service Desk in Early December

As you may know, the Integrated Award Environment manages the Federal Service Desk (FSD.gov) in addition to the various applications (e.g., SAM.gov, CPARS.gov, beta.SAM.gov).  The FSD exists to help our system users with issues ranging from a lost or forgotten password to more complex issues with a specific system.

On December 8, the FSD will be making two important changes you should know about:

  • The FSD will implement multifactor authentication (MFA) via login.gov for those who have an account at FSD.gov (accounts typically are created by users who want to utilize chat log features and webforms, but are not needed to obtain help from the FSD).
  •
  • The FSD will launch a whole new look and feel.

We’re adding  MFA login to the Federal Service Desk at FSD.gov to protect you, your agency or organization, and the government by making it more difficult for someone to gain unauthorized access to your user account. After December 8, all FSD.gov users with an individual account  will be required to use login.gov to access FSD.gov.

Several IAE systems, including SAM.gov, beta.SAM.gov, eSRS.gov, and FSRS.gov already have implemented login.gov. FPDS.gov will be implementing it soon.

If you have a login.gov account already and your login.gov email matches the email address associated with your FSD.gov account, you are ready for the new login process.

If you have a login.gov account associated with a different email address than your existing FSD account, you can update your FSD account email address to the email that is associated with your login.gov account. If you do not currently have a login.gov account, you can easily create one at login.gov. When creating your account, enter the same email address you used for FSD.gov so that FSD.gov can link your login.gov account to your existing profile.

In addition to a new way to log in to FSD.gov, users will notice a new look and feel. The new design implements the most current U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) standards and best practices mandated by the 21st Century Integrated Digital Experience Act (IDEA), which will be a significant user experience upgrade. While the look and feel will change, the functionality and the basic organization of the site will remain the same.

For login.gov assistance, please review the help section of login.gov. For all other issues, continue to contact the Federal Service Desk at www.fsd.gov or by telephone at 866-606-8220 (toll free) or 334-206-7828 (internationally).
